At the German B1 level, you can communicate effectively in everyday situations, while traveling, and within your own areas of interest. You can talk about experiences, describe goals, and justify opinions. You can generally use the most important grammatical structures correctly.
The telc German B1 exam consists of both a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes. Before the oral exam, you have 20 minutes of preparation time. The oral exam takes place on the same day as the written exam.

Upon passing the exam, you will receive a certificate, and if you do not pass the exam, you will receive a result sheet usually 4-6 weeks after the exam. You can retake the exam as many times as you want until the end of the following calendar year. If you only failed either the oral or written part of the exam, you do not need to retake the entire exam, only the part you failed. More details can be found in § 5 of the examination regulations.
