What is the telc C1 Hochschule exam?

The telc C1 Hochschule exam is a language proficiency test for advanced German (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). It is designed for prospective students who wish to study at a German university. The exam assesses language skills across various areas and ensures that participants are capable of pursuing studies in the German language.

What do I need to know for the telc C1 Hochschule exam?

You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently. You are familiar with colloquial expressions and can vary your language style effectively. You maintain a high level of grammatical accuracy.

How is the telc German C1 Hochschule exam structured?

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 3 hours and 40 minutes (including a 20-minute break). Before the oral exam, you have a preparation time of 20 minutes. The oral exam takes place on the same day as the written exam.

When will I receive the exam results?

Upon passing the exam, you will receive a certificate, and if you do not pass the exam, you will receive a result sheet usually 4-6 weeks after the exam. You can retake the exam as many times as you want until the end of the following calendar year. If you only failed either the oral or written part of the exam, you do not need to retake the entire exam, only the part you failed. More details can be found in § 5 of the examination regulations.
